Common name: Pukio, Purei
Botanical name (authority): Carex secta Boott
Pukio (Carex secta) is a large, tufted wetland sedge with tall, stiff green leaves forming dense clumps and brown flower spikes.
It grows best in wet, poorly drained soils, often in wetlands, streamsides, and low-lying paddocks.
