Desert broom (Carmichaelia petriei) is a yellowish shrub with untidy erect leafless branches. Branches are rounded, 1–3.5 mm wide, with long yellow tips. Flowers are small, pea-like and pink in small clusters. They produce drooping dry pods containing 1–4 hard mottled seeds.
