Throughout Autumn, we challenge you to eco-source seeds from native plants within the local area.
At the end of the challenge join us at the Waitaki Valley Community Native Nursery on Thursday, 2 May, 10am – 12pm for a community workshop on how to propagate some of the seeds collected. If you wish to come along please r.s.v.p. via email to info@hakatarameasc.co.nz.
If you would like to donate the seeds you collect to the nursery, bring them along to the workshop or drop them into the WVS office. Ensure you keep the seeds you collect from each plant species separate and correctly label them, including:
Where they were collected
What date they were collected
The name of the plant species
Any identifying features of the plant
HSC are also running a propagation activity with the WVS students on the afternoon of Thursday, 2 May. More information about this will be shared through the school newsletter.
Advice and tips will be shared on our Facebook page throughout the challenge. Below you will find links to the Eco-Sourcing Guide and the Native Plant Scavenger Hunt which identifies native plants in the Hakataramea Catchment and Waitaki region and shares a little about them.
